Metabolism, Diet and Disease Conference

Metabolism, Diet and Disease 2014: Cancer and metabolism

Thanks to everyone who attended BioMed Central‘s second biennial Metabolism, Diet and Disease: Cancer and metabolism conference on 28th to 30th May 2014 in Washington DC, USA and for making it such a stimulating and interactive meeting. The conference was supported by the journals BMC Biology and BMC Medicine, which celebrated their 10th Anniversary in 2013, and Cancer & Metabolism. Following the success of the first Metabolism, Diet and Disease conference in 2012, the second conference brought together leading researchers in cancer and metabolism with experts in whole-body metabolism.

Internationally recognized speakers held talks on topics including metabolic links to cancer, obesity and diabetes, oncogenic drivers and vulnerabilities in altered cancer cell metabolism, the metformin paradox – biguanides and energy metabolism, and metabolism-based cancer therapies. Following the lively panel discussion in 2012, the 2014 panel topic, ‘Is cancer preventable? The influence of diet on cancer’ was chaired by Gregory Petsko.

Submitted abstracts will be published as a supplement in Cancer & Metabolism and indexed in PubMed and by ISI Web of Science.

Registrants for the ‘Metabolism, Diet and Disease’ conference are entitled to a 15% discount on article processing charges for publications in the BMC Biology, BMC Medicine,  Cancer & Metabolism journals and all other BioMed Central journals. Please email events@biomedcentral.com to receive the APC discount code first before submitting your article. The offer will apply until 31 August 2014.

Research Award Winner

Congratualtions to the winners of BioMed Central’s 8th Annual Research Awards, sponsored by antibodies-online.com.
